Summer heat.....but still busy. I recently had an offer to do illustrations for a kids book. The story is defiantly an important story to be told. Sorry I can't give it away! I've had lots of ideas but apprehensive about diving into something I'm not all that sure about. I'll do my research and see how it goes.
In the mean time I created some new goodies. Bird Talk is new. I'm not even sure how it came to be, Maybe a little bird told me so. I love them. I think they would make a great note card pack.
What do you think?

White Rock Sea Festival

It was my first time setting up and selling art! The weekend was very successful for the whole family. Matt was the MC on the main stage and did a wonderful job, defiantly in his element. Kaya Moon (8yrs) sold her first painting, which is amazing we're so proud of her!
There was a good turn out for the event, I met many people and had lots of positive feedback. My Mini Moo cards were a hit ( they were so adorable) I had 100 and they were almost all gone on the first day.
I ended up selling six pieces which I think is amazing considering people usually lookers not buyers at a festival. One couple bought my Hummingbird Haven painting, it was there anniversary so I was honored to be part of that. I met a wonderful artist, Erika, to see her amazing creations go to: erikakoenigworkman.com
I had an inquiry about doing children's CD covers/books, that was interesting we'll see how that goes.
All in all it was a very fruitful weekend. I even had three of my favorite girls sleepover, two were on their way and coming back from Las Vegas. Juicy... juicy Vegas time!!!!

People Choice Award!

Who would of thunk my first entry in an art exhibit and I won The Peoples' Choice Award?! It was put on by White Rock Art Council and Community Center. The theme was Spring Flowers.
Walking through the exhibit I noticed most were big, framed pieces............. then my little one! You have to admit it does pack a punch!
Ahhh spring  the time when all the little flower party dresses come out and do a little jig!!

Sister Nature lending a hand to Mother. The inspiration for this piece came from the background paper. It is a Tim Holtz gem indeed! Hundreds of old beat up licence plates, eye candy for sure. Then I started to think about all the cars they came from and all the cars that are on the roads throughout the world. How much we abuse Mother Nature, her battle is unfathomable, yet she will persevere.
Sister Nature is one of her beautiful helpers, she stands tall with branches reaching up. Sending love into the world to heal and evoke change.

Madame Butterfly

Presenting...Madame Butterfly! It was a lovely sunny day in White Rock and I was looking out onto our sprouting garden. So much lively activity happening. I watched our little Chihuahua, Zoro, chasing a magical white butterfly and was thinking from Zoro's perspective, what a wonderful sight it must be. I've been drawn to the butterfly recently, I'm always adding new works to my Metamorphosis Series. This time I had visions of flowing hair against a stark background and the only real vibrant colours coming from the ever so fascinating butterfly!   From this, Madame Butterfly was born.

Lettera d'amore

Where do all the lost love letters go?

I imagine a luminescent sky spirit wearing a magnificent dress. Under the soft white lace slip, lies a quilted dress made from all the lost love letters of the world. She protects and cherishes every letter to ensure love is never lost. This lovely piece has many enviting textures and hidden messages for you to enjoy!

Artificial Flavour & Colour

hmmm....sunshine and the though of summer has inspired some vivid and yummy colours which can only be translated to summer treats!! A youth in Winnipeg way back when, I remember feelings of envy as my friends would have stacks of Pop Shoppe soda! The mouth watering coloured liquid and cool shaped bottles were the sign of summer.
All these tantilizing colours have inspired a series of new paintings titled: Artificial Flavour & Colour . The first of the series ' Admit One' was a birthday present for my beautiful neice Kali. But don't worry there are more to come..........
